Lending Hearts began in 2011 as a means of filling a gap in social and emotional services for children and young adults living with cancer and their families. All services are free of charge and inclusive of the entire family or care team.
Lending Hearts allows children and young adults with cancer or having undergone treatment and their families to participate in memorable educational experiences. The focus of programming is developing a positive network for patients and families by sharing their similar experiences and channeling the challenges of expressing their emotions through various activities. Examples of expression are in a group setting like art expression, musical & recreational activities and instructor led activities like yoga, mindfulness and aromatherapy.
Every year since, Lending Hearts has experienced tremendous growth. In 2019, approximately 150 individuals were served each month. Programming has grown to include advocacy, outreach and educational seminars for families.
